Head of Investment Management Recruitment
Jim joined the Ad Idem Group in January 2017 having spent 12 years working in Investment Management recruitment. Jim set up his own recruitment firm, JGB Partners, in 2012 which he ran successfully for 5 years. A chance meeting with Ann Radford, an ex-colleague and friend, lead to Jim teaming up with Ann to establish and run the investment management division of the Ad Idem Consulting Group. Jim loves recruitment but he felt that running his own firm took him away from what he really enjoyed – changing people’s lives and matching ideal candidates into the right businesses. Ad Idem gave him the opportunity to get back to what he does best and since taking the position, he has never looked back.
Jim recruits across the entirety of functions from front to back office and works with some of the world’s leading Hedge Funds and Asset Management firms. He prides himself on his integrity and honesty and will always strive to give people the best advice he can to help forward their careers, all the while ensuring he is providing his clients with unrivaled service. For Jim, it is all about the long term, and his reputation in one of the most competitive recruitment markets speaks for itself.
When Jim is not working (though you can almost always reach him on WhatsApp!) he enjoys spending time at home with his wife, young daughter and their cats. He is also an obsessive collector and player of electric guitars. He has played thousands of gigs with countless bands across the UK, Europe and America. He has played bass for legendary 80’s pop star Tiffany, live on Strictly Come Dancing, as well as appearing at both the Glastonbury and Download Festival. He loves crime documentaries, travelling in Europe and almost all whisky.
Henry joined Ad Idem Consulting in 2018 as a Junior Resourcing Associate having spent a brief time on work experience with another London recruitment firm. They were unable to offer him a permanent position at the end of his placement but referred him to Jim who immediately saw a spark within Henry that he knew he could nurture.
Jim was right, and Henry quickly got to grips with the world of Investment Management recruitment, utilising his natural personality to form and develop key relationships in the industry with both clients and candidates. Henry’s eye for talent saw him quickly begin to make placements and he was soon promoted to Candidate Manager and then Consultant not long after that, as his confidence and reputation continued to grow.
Henry has since undergone further training and development and is now one of the firm’s most prolific billers. With his fearless approach to business development, he now consistently pulls in business from some of the biggest names in the industry. His ability to build relationships with businesses of all sizes, coupled with his exceptional knowledge of the industry, has seen him become a trusted recruitment partner to his ever growing client base – an impressive feat in such a competitive market.
When he joined the business, Henry’s main focus was on junior level recruitment across Middle Office Operations but he has since grown into Sales, Research, IT, Performance, Risk and Distribution recruitment at a much more senior level.
Outside of work, Henry is a new dad to son Archie and a long-suffering Arsenal fan, he enjoys spending time with family (as Covid restrictions currently dictate!).
Jon joined Ad Idem Consulting in 2021 as a Senior Consultant. Prior to this he worked for two global recruitment firms covering both the Financial Services and Healthcare sectors. Jon also has experience working on the other side of the fence in operations within the Financial Services industry, with the Bank of England.
Jon recruits for Risk and Compliance roles on a temporary, fixed-term contract and permanent basis across the Financial Services sector. His experience working for the Bank of England for over five years prior to working in recruitment, puts him in a great position to connect with candidates and clients and have a real understanding of their needs and aspirations. Above all else, Jon is passionate about helping his candidates and clients by providing them with a consultative service and being available at any time of the day! Jon’s remit includes junior risk and compliance graduate roles to C-Suite Compliance Directors and Chief Risk Officers as well as Transformation and Risk / Compliance Interims on a project basis.
Outside of work Jon likes to keep fit and healthy by running, going to the gym and playing golf. He is a forever hopeful Arsenal fan so likes to watch football games in his spare time, which tends to end in disappointment! Jon also enjoys holidays abroad and has a long list of locations to visit once travel restrictions are lifted!
Dougie joined Ad Idem Consulting in 2021 as a Consultant, previously working as a Candidate Manager within the Financial Services and Investment Banking sector. Based in Edinburgh, Dougie works in the Ad Investment Management division alongside Jim, Henry, and Oscar.
Dougie’s consultative approach ensures candidates are fully vetted and kept up to date during the hiring process and clients are presented with a comprehensive shortlist of suitable candidates. His focus on building relationships with candidates means not only is Dougie is loved by all who meet him, but these candidate relationships quickly evolve into satisfied clients. Dougie’s remit at Ad Idem includes recruiting into the areas of Technology, Transformation, Finance and Accounting, and in particular where these disciplines often times merge, focusing on the Financial Services and Investment Management sector. Some examples of recently fulfilled mandates are; Interim Head of Transformation, Commercial Financial Analyst MI and Data Reporting, PMO for change and Digital Transformation lead, Lead Developer C#, Developer .net, CTO Asset Management, Java Developer Hedge Fund.
Being the first truly remote recruitment consultant at Ad Idem, Dougie splits his time between Edinburgh and London, and his reach provides a uniquely national coverage enabling him to support businesses with regional hubs as well businesses based solely in Scotland and the city of London.
Before joining the world of recruitment, Dougie completed his BSc in Medical Sciences at the University of Edinburgh. During his studies he worked in the hospitality sector, and still mixes up a cocktail or two for friends. Outside of work, Dougie enjoys spending time outdoors, seeing friends, and is a busy parent to two cats and a dog. He loves travelling and has a long list of destinations to see and things to do – including SCUBA diving!
Oscar joined Ad Idem Consulting as an Administration Assistant in 2020, supporting the consultants and ensuring the smooth operation of Ad Idem. After a few short months, Oscar developed a flair for recruitment and started his role as Candidate Manager in 2021. Working in the Ad Investment Management division, Oscar supports Jim and Henry sourcing candidates for a variety of roles and is quickly becoming an asset to the team. His eagerness to learn, confidence in the role, and background in administration makes Oscar an excellent Candidate Manager with a promising future. With Jim and Henry mentoring him, along with further training and development, Oscar provides a comprehensive recruitment experience to candidates and ensures clients have access to the best talent available in the market. On the weekends Oscar would normally be found supporting Fulham at their home and away games, but now enjoys seeing his mates (when possible), going for walks, and listening to music.
